Pool Installation Options & Their Benefits

There are many pool types to choose from when you decide to install a pool at your home or business, including concrete and vinyl. Lanier Pools and Spas has described each of these pool types and their benefits below:

Concrete Pools

Concrete pools are the most expensive and most popular type of in-ground pool. People often refer to them as Shotcrete or Gunite pools because we pump wet pressurized concrete through a hose and shoot it onto steel-reinforced walls. After the concrete dries, we add plaster, trowel it to a smooth finish, and paint it. Concrete is beneficial because we can form it to any size and shape, making a genuinely customized pool. The installation process typically takes up to 12 weeks to complete, which is longer than other pool types but ensures the strongest and most durable results. Unlike other pool types, we can refinish, enlarge, rebuild, or update an existing concrete pool.

Vinyl Pools

Vinyl-lined pools are growing in demand and rank as the second most popular in-ground pool option. The pool consists of a one-piece, flexible pool liner placed into an excavated pool site and attached to an aluminum - or steel-framed wall. Vinyl pools have a limited selection of shapes and sizes, most of which are rectangular. We can install an average-sized vinyl pool much sooner than a concrete pool, but the vinyl liner is vulnerable to rips and punctures. Sharp objects, playful dogs, and pointy pool toys can cause damage. A vinyl liner can be repaired, but we recommend investing in a heavy-duty liner.
